What is Lensa AI And Why it is facing a backlash from artists

Recently you might have seen these awesome portraits, particularly on Instagram.

These cool-looking portraits are created by an AI app known as lensa AI.

Lensa AI is an artificial intelligence (AI) technology that has quickly flooded timelines around the world.

What is Lensa AI?

Lensa AI is a revolutionary photo and video editing app created by Prisma Labs in 2018.

It uses your selfies to create AI-generated digital artwork in a variety of different art styles and variations.

This app is incredibly simple to use, and you can find it as the top free app on Apple’s App Store.

For a small fee, Lensa AI can turn your selfies into unique and eye-catching AI portraits.

How Lensa AI app works?

Although the app is free to download the catch is you need to pay $4 to upload your photos.

Once you’ve uploaded your photo, you can apply different stylized filters and effects to create your own personalized avatar.

Popular on social media, these avatars have gone viral and become a must-have for any photo-editing enthusiast.

However, before you purchase a pack of ‘Magic Avatars’ from the app, consider the price tag and results to see if it’s worth the hype.

How to create avatars in Lensa AI?

When using Lensa AI, users must upload between eight and ten photos of themselves with their face filling most of the frame and no one else in the shot.

Lensa will then use the photos to create a unique AI-generated avatar.

This avatar is then stored in the user’s account and can be used in a variety of ways; from creating custom avatars to sharing with friends and family.

How does Lensa create these AI avatars?

In a nutshell, Lensa takes the user’s photos and uses artificial intelligence algorithms to create a three-dimensional representation of their face.

The AI algorithm then uses facial recognition technology to identify features like eyes, nose, mouth, chin, forehead, and other facial features and creates a three-dimensional avatar.

From there, the AI algorithm can generate a unique avatar based on the user’s facial features and the user’s desired style.

Why is there a backlash from artists on the lensa AI app?

In recent years, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has become increasingly commonplace.

Lensa AI is a photo-editing app that recently introduced a new AI portrait generator.

This new feature has become massively popular with users, however, it has also caused a lot of backlash from artists who are concerned about the ethical implications of creating images with models that have been trained in their art.

The main issue that has sparked this backlash is the fact that the AI models used to generate images are trained using databases of art belonging to artists who have not given their permission for such use.

This means that the art created by the AI models is in fact derived from the work of these artists, and yet they are not receiving any compensation or recognition for their work.

Furthermore, the AI models are not able to accurately distinguish between artworks and mere background images, meaning that some works may be unintentionally used without the artist’s consent.

Is Lensa AI safe to use?

In addition to the ethical implications of using AI models to generate art, many artists are also concerned about the data privacy implications of using the Lensa app.

The app requires users to upload photos of themselves, which are then used to create AI-generated portraits.

This means that the app has access to a large amount of personal data which could potentially be used for malicious purposes.

Furthermore, the company behind the app has not provided adequate information about how this data is stored and used, which has raised further concerns among artists.

Finally, many artists are concerned that the use of AI models to generate art could lead to the eventual devaluation of traditional art.

As AI models become increasingly sophisticated, there is a fear that they could eventually be used to create art that is indistinguishable from traditional art.

This could lead to a situation where the market for traditional art is flooded with AI-generated works, which could lead to a decrease in the value of traditional artworks.

Conclusion

The backlash from artists on the Lensa AI app has been caused by a range of ethical and data privacy concerns as well as fears of the devaluation of traditional art.

As the use of AI technology continues to become more widespread, these issues will become increasingly important.

It is important that the companies behind AI-based applications take these concerns seriously.
